Day 5:Finances

Day 5: Finances

Principle 5: When God said "Ask," He meant it.

Did you that financial breakthrough and provision only comes to those who seek God? In the Gospel of matthew, one of the age old financial principals rings truw: Seek first the Kingdom of Heaven..and then all things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33).

A lot of people want to "see" the provision before they "seek" the Provider.

Today's principle closely leans on yesterday's principle about spending more time in prayer. When we are in tune with what God is saying to us, we are naturally inclined to seek out the Kingdom in our daily lives. The truth is that by seeking the Kingdom, we are actually opening the flood gates for blessings: spiritual, physical, and, FINANCIAL.

If the wealth of the wicked has been stored up for the righteous (prov 13:22), you better start looking to live righteously before you expect to gain any sort of wealth, especially the wealth that is being overlorded by the Devil himself. Can you truly wrap your mind around that concept? The Devil is the Prince of the Power of the Air: he operates through the wicked people in the natural realm, and one of his main weapons i money. The Devil knows all about the finances of wicked people. So, to combat his stronghold on finance...you have to SEEK first the Kingdom...surround yourself with like minded believers who understand that wealth is a tool in the hands of God or the Devil (depending who the person with wealth serves as master), link arms with those who understand the true financial principles of Giving, Sewing, and Reaping, and use the money God then blesses you with to POUR back into the KINGDOM. it is all a cycle.

If you want to live like the King, go Seek the Kingdom. Find it. Reside there. be blessed.

Day 4: Focus

Day 4: Focus

Principle 4: When God said to spend time in your prayer closet, He did not mean hang out in the pantry!

One of the quickest things to go when one subjects themselves to some sort of weight loss plan is their FOCUS. People you can not be successful on this 90 day challenge if you do not spend the first few minutes of the day centering in on what you want to accomplish in that day.

How do you do that? Easy. Begin the day in prayer. Your breakthrough over your unhealthy lifestyle will begin in prayer. Period. It does not have to be some long, prophetic session. A simple submission to God that in this day you desire to be victorious over your food and your flesh will suffice. Include God in your challenge and He will include you in your Victory!

That's it folks. More time in prayer, less time in the pantry!

Day 3: Fitness

Day 3: Fitness

Principle 3: Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the REFRIGERATOR!

Ok, people. Let's get right down to it. We will never see real change in our personal fitness unless we first declare that we are in control of what we put in our bodies. I know this is probably my weakest area when it comes to taking care of myself; I am controlled by what I eat. My dad used to always ask me if I was "in a race" at the dinner table. Even to day my wife encourages me to slow down, enjoy my food, take small bites and chew thoroughly. There some sort of a drawing and encompassing aspect to good food. The only problem is, it is the one that spits YOU out in the end, when it should probably be the other way around.

What I have come to realize is that my desire for food is like a bad high school relationship: once you have crossed some lines you feel like you can't get that part of yourself back again. Food can put some of the biggest guilt on a person, shaming them to the point of only eating more. Crazy, I know.

At the end of the day, food, for a lot of people, is a BIG WEAPON of the ENEMY. Since we know that NO weapon formed against us shall prosper (for those of us who are believers: if that is not you, food is not your primary problem), you have to gird yourself up with the proper protection before you go into the battle with your food.

So, how do we protect ourselves against the war with food? Easy. Greater is HE who is IN you! You have to literally give your food habits over to the Lord and ask Him to help you make better choices, minute by minute, day by day. Watch this: winning the battle with food takes a SPIRITUAL mindset. Sometimes the supernatural just needs to invade the natural areas in our lives...and besides...if you get caught up in some prayer language you can't use your tongue to lick an ice cream cone.

Ok, friends, all jokes aside...give that food addiction over to God...find a good system...plug into it...and MAKE IT WORK!

Day 2: Family

Day 2: Family

Principle: Home is where the H.E.A.R.T. is.

Before you take any step of faith, you have to tap into your support group. Hopefully, your family is the best support group you have. I do not care who you are, or what sort of family you come from. Every single one of them has some sort of dysfunction. Even so, it is the management of that dysfunction that establishes whether or not your support group can be truly leaned on during times when you need it. How do you manage your family, best serving them and best preparing them to support you?

Remember, home is where the H.E.A.R.T. is. In order to keep it that way, there are 5 principles we should practice in our home to ensure that the environment is conducive to support our development and destiny.

H:Humility--If each one lives to serve the other, the home will be a very happy face. You can best serve the members of your family if you have a truly humble spirit, always thinking less of yourself and more of others.

E:Equality--Every person in the home should be valued equally, not based on gender roles or preconceived ideas of domestication.

A:Accountability--Every one should be willing to sit in accountability for their own actions, accept the consequences of their actions, and act differently when asked to based on the good of the entire family.

R:Responsibility--If a family is to flourish, every member has to do his or her part to "shoulder the load." This has both a literal and figurative meaning. The family can only function as well as its weakest unit, so, if everyone works together holding up their part, the entire unit functions accordingly and surges towards successful, relational growth.

T:Tranquility--There is a lot to be said when their a house full of peacemakers. When problems arise, speak and act peaceably with one another and not let emotions momentarily displace the victorious mindset we are called to walk in.

If we simply remember that home is where the H.E.A.R.T. is, and we embrace thse 5 principles about successful in-home relationships, the deepened resultant bond will catapult our families to next level of prosperous living.

Day 1: Faith Still learning this one

Day 1: Faith

Principle 1; Most people never become who they want to be because they settle for who they currently are.

One of the biggest enemies of commitment is complacency. One of the biggest enemies of commitment is convenience. When convenience and complacency link arms and team up against your commitment, it will not be long before commitment is long forgotten, dying away as some nice after thought.

Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE GROUND TO THEM. Stand fast. God himself has a bigger plan for you, and that plan does not mean some wishy washy, faithless, spineless, couch potato who only looks for the next and latest fad and then blames his/her failures on other peoples shortfalls. Your body is HIS temple. yea yea, I know..."Trey, I want to have the most room possible for the Holy Spirit to grow and move and operate." This is a LIE from the Devil. Even though people who say it jokingly most likely would say they do not mean it, there is a little bit of truth in every joke we tell. DO NOT BUY IN.

Who was it that God told you long ago that He wanted you  to be? I am sure it was not middle aged, obese, and broke? If so, are you sure you were NOT hearing from God.

Did you know that God's Word says in 2 Corinthians 4:10-11 "7But we have this treasure in(T) jars of clay,(U) to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8We are(V) afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9persecuted, but(W) not forsaken;(X) struck down, but not destroyed; 10(Y) always carrying in the body the death of Jesus,(Z) so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. 11For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12So(AA) death is at work in us, but life in you."

Did you see it? did you see where complacency and convenience team up? Complacency and convenience are two resultant spirits at war with our Spirit, afflicting, perplexing, persecuting, and striking us down...smashing our dreams, lulling us to sleep on what God has for us...but WE MUST PUT THOSE THINGS TO DEATH, so LIFE can be at work in us. Do not continue to settle friends, have the faith to get you to your goals in EVERY aspect of your life.

If it is fullness you seek, then it is time to start emptying out some of that old you so the new you has room to grow. Start with complacency and convenience, Challenge yourself to stay committed, in every area of your life. And. Watch. What. Happens.

Blog Overview

Friends,

As we move through this challenge, I am going to embark on an internal and external journey. Internally, I will be working through years of a defeated mentality, low self esteem, doubts about commitment. Externally, I will be working off all those pounds that have bound me up for so long.

On this journey, I am going to take you through the myriad of information that the Lord is teaching me. By sharing these principles, I hope to create more accountability for myself and also make the 90 Day Challenge become more than just a weight loss competition. I want to make it about total body wellness: physical, emotional, spiritual, psychological and financial.

Each day, I am going to present a principal that God has taught me or is in the process of teaching me. I will let you know at the beginning of the post whether or not I am still learning that lesson or not. Some of the days will be devotional, some of the days will be practical, and we might even have some guest bloggers along the way.

Please help me get as many people as possible plugged into this blog even if they are not on the Challenge. I will not post my link here, so you do not have to worry about me steering them away. I want to establish a community of people working together through the power of God and the versatility of one another to move mountains, smash the goals, and take back our families and lives from the hands of the Enemy.

I look forward to interacting with you all. Stay the course. Just do it.

The Calm Before the Storm

Have you ever been on the edge of a breakthrough? Some breakthroughs happen after many consecutive seasons of storms and plight. However, some breakthroughs are the storms themselves. That is right. Going through the battle is the breakthrough. See, God wants to see how we perform during and after our testing. We can almost receive two types of breakthrough: 1. the breakthrough necessary to endure any of the circumstantial devices the devil uses against us, and 2. the breakthrough that comes with how we respond once the circumstance is past us.

For Job, the breakthrough happened during his storm. God already knew the purity in Job's heart and He foresaw how Job was going to receive the challenges that God allowed the devil to put him through. See, Job's faith was deepened during his season of testing. Even more so, how deeper was the faith of those who knew Job? Have you ever thought about that? Think about the lives that were changed as a result of what Job went through. Some times it is the indirect move of God, that extraneous break through that happens in surrounding communities when a man of God proves himself worthy--it is that move that I am after. I want a move of God that shakes my family, my community, my area, and my generation. So, it is this type of break through I pray for, run toward, and beseech the throne room of grace about...

Send a break through God. Rid us of youthful and fleshly desires; mature us in You; migrate us to Your throne room; mentor us in Your goodness; rid us of unhealthy habits; deepen our appreciation for steadfast goodness; catapult us into the fullness of the Gospel until it impacts every aspect of our lives.

Take us to the next level.
